Spring fishing is still going well on the Muskegon River despite recent weather. The water is high and cold but still has good clarity, which has fishing pretty good right now. Fishing should be good well into May.
Brian and Joel fished with me on April 7th and put many pre-spawn fish in the boat. We found that 10m beads got most of our fish.

Water levels are low, but fishing has been good. Not many spring fish in the upper river but it will not be long with some 50-degree days in the forecast.

There are very few salmon in the upper stretches of the river currently. I have heard reports that there are some in Muskegon Lake and the lower part of the river.
Smallmouth fishing is going good right now and should remain that way for a few more weeks. The Muskegon River is low and too warm to be chasing trout. King Salmon and Fall steelhead are just around the corner so now is the tie to start planning your trip as days are filling up quickly!
